Arblaster & Clarke Wine Tours are now in Petersfield! — Posted on: 23/08/2007
Wine Tour operator Arblaster and Clarke moved to the Hampshire market town of Petersfield in September 2006.
We purchased ‘Meon House’, the offices of First Choice PLC. This was an interesting home-coming for Lynette Arblaster who had worked here in the 1980s as Italian Manager for Meon Villas when this was an independent Tour Operator. The building has been renamed Cedar Court, which is close to its original name ‘Cedarcote’.
We are easy to find in Petersfield, very near the town centre and only a few minutes walk from the station. Cedar Court is opposite the White Hart and The Folly wine bar. The building which is listed of historic importance, grade 2, is partly obscured by its cedar trees; The massive dark green Cedar of Lebanon and the taller, more silvery-green Moroccan Atlas Mountain Cedar. The Cedar of Lebanon is also ‘listed’ and dates back to the mid 1700s we think.
A&C and our tenants have since re-decorated much of the building and re-roofed two sections. We employed a tree surgeon, (a specialist in Cedar trees) to do some much needed work to the both the Cedars. Hopefully the Cedar of Lebanon will be good for another 300 or so years!
You are very welcome to come and see us, but please make an appointment first, as the person you may want to see may be away on tour. There is parking nearby, either in the main ‘Waitrose’ car park or in the car park behind the old Town Hall.
