La Scala

La Scala

Opera & Wine - Venice & Milan

At La Fenice the tour features Puccini’s Turandot with its great arias and complex orchestration. Turandot was in fact first performed at La Scala and here we have a magnificent production of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. Wagner is regularly featured in both opera houses though La Scala is more suited. We have good tickets and 4*hotels within walking distance of the venues.

For the first part of the holiday we are based in the heart of Venice at the Palazzo Bonvecchiati, half way between the Ponte di Rialto and Piazza San Marco. There will be plenty of time to explore well known sites and galleries such as the Doge’s Palace and the Accademia or you could plunge into the maze of alleys and side streets in search of less visited churches, overlooked important sites such as the Arsenel and authentic Osterie with their good value local cuisine.

On the day that we transfer from Venice to Milan we visit a wine estate in Soave, followed by lunch at the Enoteca to taste a further range of wines. This transfer will be by Renault Espace or similar with an English speaking driver.
