Venice to Dubrovnik Wine Cruise

A&C have chartered the fabulous super-yacht ‘Pantheon’ for a wine cruise from Venice to Dubrovnik. Along the way we’ll stop at many of the ports and islands that used to belong to Venice and where that stamp of the Lion of St Mark is clearly visible in the colonnaded piazzas, soaring belfries and seemingly impregnable fortifications.
The SY Pantheon is a luxury 164 foot yacht with a crew of 17 and 25 cabins. There is ample deck area including a large shaded area around the bar. The chefs serve gourmet Mediterranean cuisine. Sports equipment includes windsurfer, canoes and snorkels.
Cabins are arranged on three decks. Higher cabins are slightly larger and have windows. Lower cabins mostly have double sized port holes. The average size is 4 sq metres. Six of the smaller cabins are offered as singles
We’ll discover the best of the local wines. Our tastings show that there is interesting wine being made here. In the north from Refosco and Malvasia, in the south from varieties that we’ve never heard of before such as Posip, Plavac Mali and Vranac.
In further on board tastings and with meals on board we’ll feature a panoply of wines from the Adriatic. These include top Italian wines from Veneto, Friuli, Rosso Conero and Puglia, plus there will be some of our Slovenian and Greek favourites too.
In the tradition of our Italian, Sicilian and Greek wine cruises, this will be a wonderful voyage of discovery taking in dramatic sites, out of the way places and some wonderful food and wine.

Itinerary
17 August Morning flight from London Gatwick to Verona. Lunch at a top Valpolicella estate. Board in Venice. Welcome buffet party on deck. Pantheon sails from Venice tonight.
18 August Morning in Rovinj in Istria. Late afternoon arrival at Pula. Dinner is ashore at the best restaurant in Istria.
19 August Today we sail to the small out of the way island of Susak which is a booming wine island.
20 August We arrive in Split this morning and will have time to explore the old centre which is built out of the retirement palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian. From here we visit the Split bay and the fortified villages of Kasteli. We’ll try some of the local wines and moor up for lunch. We will also visit Trogir, one of the most attractive of all the Dalmatian towns.
21 August Today we visit the island of Hvar or Vis, with time ashore and for swimming.
22 August The island of Korkula for the morning and lunchtime, then sail to Trstenik on the Peljensac peninsula. We arrive in the afternoon and overnight. This is where Californian wine master Mike Grgich has set up his winery in his homeland. We will dine with his wines tonight.
23 August Today we sail down the coast past Dubrovnik to Montenegro. Here we enter Boka the most spectacular of the Adriatic fjords. In the pretty port of Kotor, we’ll have a tasting of Montenegran wines. Overnight in Kotor bay.
24 August Morning arrival in Dubrovnik. Our return flight is mid afternoon. So we have the morning for exploring the famously beautiful old town.
