New Year in Amalfi

29 December 2008 - 2 January 2009

The Arblaster & Clarke New Year tours are a great way to relax after the hard work of Christmas and to celebrate in a beautiful location. These holidays have long been an annual A&C tradition and are enjoyable, convivial breaks in comfortable surroundings with good food, good wines and the emphasis both on relaxing and having a jolly good time! Join us this new year for a party and tour in lovely Amalfi.

Many of the classic ingredients for Italian food come from the Campania region – buffalo mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes and olive oil. The cuisine is very simple, minimal cooking interference allows the natural flavours to shine through. Of course, for Italians, food and wine are inseparable, so this is the perfect opportunity to explore the art of abbinamento – pairing the ideal food with wines.

Our wine visits will show the best wines now coming from Campania, which have improved greatly over the last few years. There are two wine visits on the tour and we will be sure to taste as many of the region’s wines as possible at meals along the way. We visit the outstanding Feudi di San Gregorio to taste their oustanding Greco di Tufo, Fiano di Avelino and Taurasi over a gourmet lunch. We also taste delightful aromatic wines of the Costa Amalfitana vineyards at the top estate of Marisa Cuomo.

This stretch of coastline is renowned for the quality of its lemons and one of their most interesting incarnations that you may wish to try is Limoncello, which is the perfect digestivo at the end of a meal!

The tour includes options to visit Positano and Ravello, the other classic villages of the Amalfi coast, plus free time in the fascinating city of Naples to explore this vibrant and chaotic place, full of history and joie de vivre.

This is a wonderfully relaxing tour, in a beautiful location in Southern Italy and provides an excellent opportunity to master the truly Italian art of enjoying life, food and wine.

There are two hotel options in Amalfi either the included Three Star in the heart of the town or at the Upgraded Four Star just outside the town with stunning views over the bay.
