Southern Tuscany & Chianti Classico

This fully revised Italain wine tour to Southern Tuscany & Chianti Classico encompasses two of Italy’s great classic wine regions. We start with the cult wine region of Bolgheri on the coast in Southern Tuscany. Here where we have tastings and lunches at the famous Italian wine estates who put the whole concept of “Super Tuscans” on the world wine map, with the Bordelaise blends of cabernet sauvignon and merlot grapes.

Our base for the first part of this Tuscan wine tour is a superb modern 5* hotel with spa on the Tuscan coast.

From here we continue to the heart of the rolling, vine covered hillsides of Chianti Classico. Here we stay in an “agriturismo” -in very comfortable, stylish farm house accommodation at a top performing organic wine estate. The wine-making family here will be our personal hosts, and will be happy for us to get involved with any activities taking place at the wine estate at the time of our visit. By now the harvest will be over, but there may still be plenty of activity in the cellars.

As a direct opposite to the Bordelaise blends of the Bolgheri region, in Chianti we taste some of the supple wines from Sangiovese variety at some of the leading estates.
There’s also be an afternoon spent exploring Siena and our last day includes some free time in the fascinating medieval hill top town of San Gimignano with its Manhattan style skyline of ancient merchant towers.

At the end of the tour we take you to Pisa airport from where you can fly home or catch the train back into Florence to spend a few days here if you wish.
