New Year in Barcelona

30 December 2007 - 2 January 2008

The Arblaster & Clarke New Year tours are a great way to relax after the hard work of Christmas and to celebrate away from home. These holidays are long been an annual A&C tradition and are enjoyable, convivial breaks in comfortable surroundings with good food, good wines and the emphasis both on relaxing and having a jolly good time! We have celebrated New Year in Barcelona before - and as it is such good fun are returning again - the Spanish really know how to enjoy themselves and the New Year party, which will go on into the early hours is no exception! This great value New Year trip stays in an extremely comfortable 4* hotel right in the town centre just off the famous Ramblas.

Barcelona, Spain’s second largest city and principal port, is the capital of the autonomous region of Catalonia. Fiercely nationalistic, most consider themselves as Catalans rather than Spaniards. Under the rule of Franco, the Catalan language was forbidden, until his death in 1975, but has since been re established, last year the government ruled that all broadcasting was to be at least half in Catalan. Famous for its artists and architects, amongst them, Picasso, Antonio Gaudi and Joan Miró, there is much to visit in this fascinating city; admire the impressive Sagrada Familia or wander down the Ramblas and visit the Museum of Modern art. Catalonia has many gastronomic delights, especially seafood and fish. Barcelona has many superb restaurants, from the elegant to the lively Tapas bars. We will visit one of the new wine bars for our first meal together to taste a selection of wines with tasting dishes.
