This enchanting tour, framed by breathtaking landscapes on both sides of the channel, bridges the gap between Churchill’s role in the Second World War and France’s most adored creation, champagne.

Be treated to private access to Churchill’s family home at Chartwell along with captivating lectures on the former British Prime Minister’s legendary career, led by leading military and political historian, Paul Beaver. This immersive exploration will unify fascinating history with decadent champagne visits.

Itinerary

Day 1

Beginning at the Churchill family home of Chartwell, we are given privileged access to the property. There will also be a welcome tasting at Chapel Down.

Day 2

Travel via Eurostar to Paris and visit both Les Invalides and the Liberation Museum. Enjoy an enlightening lecture and later dine at the famous Maxim’s.

Day 3

We join the exclusive L’Imperiale de Marie Antoinette double-decker bus for a unique tasting with a difference. After, we go to Châtillon-sur-Marne and stand under the statue of Pope Urban II to enjoy views over the Champagne region.

Day 4

Tour the Musée de la Reddition before a lecture on Churchill, the Free French and Charles de Gaulle. We then pay a very special visit to the iconic Taittinger.

Day 5

At Castelnau co-operative in Reims, discover how champagne is made from the region’s grapes. Visit the Grande Maison of Pol Roger before recreating the menu from the legendary dinner of the British Embassy of Paris on November 11, 1944.

Day 6

A lecture enlightens us on Churchill’s visit to the Second World War front line, before lunch at le Fôret Joli and a sabrage demonstration at Canard-Duchêne.

Day 7

We leave beautiful France behind and return to London.
