Explore rock-cut abbeys, fascinating museums, magnificent temples and the astonishing remnants of ancient towns and cities devastated (and preserved) by Vesuvius. Wine is the life blood of the region – it was even named the ‘land of wine’ by the Greeks. The wines here were adored by the Romans, and it’s not hard to see why: bold, full-bodied, and supremely satisfying… but don’t just take our word for it!
Upon arrival, we enjoy lunch at a local osteria and then we have free time to explore glorious Amalfi at leisure. Later, we continue on to our hotel in Ravello.
We begin at the Tenuta San Francesco winery, then we have a delicious lunch and take part in a traditional cookery demonstration back at our hotel.
En route to the Cilento coast, we stop at Corpo di Cava dei Tirreni where we have special access to its library, which boasts a rich archive of documents. Lunch is at De Conciliis and later we are treated to an indulgent wine tasting at Villa Sirio.
Today we travel to Paestum and once we arrive, we wander among its mighty temples. We visit ancient Veila and then we tour the splendid estate, Sangiovanni.
Our entire day is devoted to the haunting town of Pompeii. Marvel at the compelling, well-preserved remains and discover several newly re-opened villas.
Herculaneum, buried to a greater depth than Pompeii, is our focus today. We enjoy lunch at a local wine bar and also visit the amazing Archaeology Museum.
We travel to Sta Maria Capua Vetere and visit the Archaeological Museum, home to captivating artefacts. We continue to the adjacent Mithraeum and the Gladiator Museum, and later we round off the day with a final group dinner of local cuisine.
Today we bid farewell to our group and catch our flights back home.

Enjoy two nights in the heart of Ravello, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, before spending another two nights in front of the Amalfi coast with a spectacular view of Capri. This tour will come to an end with three nights in a 4* hotel located in Naples within the luxury shopping area, and just a few metres from Piazza del Plebiscito.
The cuisine will be as much a focus on this tour as the wine. Not only will we be able to enjoy a traditional cookery demonstration, there will also be ample opportunity to lose ourselves in the unforgettable gastronomy and regional fare of southern Italy.
This region, known as the ‘land of wine’ has been producing amazing wine for thousands of years, and its rich soil and temperate climate are ideal for vineyards. With reds to rival those coming from Piedmont and Tuscany, the whites to be discovered here are also wonderful.
